-----------------------------------I COULD ALWAYS COUNT ON THE FUTURES;( that things would look up ) ------------------------------- Looking back on his life, Jude Sebastian Talisman never would've guessed that at the young age of twenty-two, he'd be sitting in the sand, enjoying an after-dinner ice cream cone across from his five-year-old niece, Emmalyn. In fact, if you were to ask his fifteen-year-old self where he would be in seven years, this would certainly not have been his answer. Not that he was complaining, of course, as Jude was more than happy with his current life. Finally, after all these years, he had gotten through school, had an almost stable family, and a decent paying job. Especially considering the hell he was dragged through with his parents long, drawn out problems that eventually lead to their even more brutal divorce, J.T. would say that his life had turned out pretty okay.
The greatest gift Jude had gotten out of it all, besides peace and serenity in his household, was little Emma. She was quite a surprise, that was for sure, but at the end of the day, she gave J.T. a purpose. He'd always loved kids, and was quite the family man. After all, since his parents were rarely present in the house, he practically raised his two younger siblings on his own. It would be a crime if he didn't have some sort of paternal, brotherly instinct inside of him. He felt that calling again when he was with Emmalyn. She didn't have a father figure in her life, as unfortunately, his sister's now ex-boyfriend turned out to be a huge disappointment, and so Jude felt the need to step in and try to fill the void. Though only her uncle, he tried to give her everything she needed, especially his time and attention. He didn't want this little girl, his own family, growing up the same way he did: in a broken home feeling lonely and helpless. He wanted her to have the opportunity to really be a kid and enjoy her childhood rather than suffer miserably through it. And so, here J.T. sat, watching the sunset beside his beautifully innocent niece, listening to her ramble on about the movie she had watched the other night with her mother.
Emmalyn's long, dark brown hair blew lightly in the wind as she munched messy on her vanilla ice cream. She spoke in between bites, chewing contently on the ice cream-filled sugar cone in her hand, completely oblivious to the fact that the ice cream itself was melting down her fingers. " ... and then this big dragon showed up and the prince hadda fight 'em, Uncle Jude! You shoulda seen it!" Emma exclaimed excitedly as she reached the climax of her story. Jude sat beside her, staring out into the ocean as the sun sank beneath the horizon, a small, yet proud smile over his face. He listened intently to every word she said, chucking occasionally at her squeaky, childish voice. However, as involved as he was in her story, his mind couldn't help but begin to wander.
He became reminiscent of his own past. When he was five, he very rarely watched movies with either of his parents, as they were always out traveling or fighting or just too busy to spend time with their three children. Jude was so thankful that Emmalyn didn't have to worry about any of that. True, she didn't exactly have a father figure in her life, but she had a devoted mother, and a caring uncle, and a supportive system of family and friends. That should make up for the lack of paternity in her life, right? Jude lost himself in the question, causing his face to tighten slightly in thought. He sat there for what felt like hours until finally Emmalyn's voice broken his concentration.
"Uncle Jude! Uncle Jude come 'ere!" The little girl shouted from afar, causing him to suddenly turn in the direction of her voice. However, a moment of panic struck him, for as he heard her voice, he didn't see her anywhere. It was an empty beach; where could a young child like her have gotten to that quickly? Jude immediately got up, his bright blue eyes narrowing slightly as if a spy on a mission. He scanned the beach as he began walking back up to the shore, trying to follow the sound of his niece's eager call. However, unfortunately, J.T. was pretty much looking everywhere but where he was going, and when he did finally look ahead of him, it was too late. He collided head on with another person who was traveling down the beach, knocking him off balance and almost into the sand. Looked like he was going to get a little more than he bargained for on the search for Emmalyn, for the person he had walked into certainly wasn't his niece. "I'm so sorry," Jude said quietly as he lightly shook off the surprise. His wide eyes lifted apologetically to get a better look at the person before him, offering a helping hand as he asked, "Are you alright?"

I W O N T G I V E U P O N U S even if the sky gets rough [atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, background-image: url(http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/ad32/paperheartx_x/bg3.png); width: 388px; padding-top: 20px; padding-bottom: 20px;]
Bella loved living in Florida. The sun was always so beautiful, so warm, despite the rainy seasons she was in her own personal paradise. Bella's life was never overly eventful, though it was certainly nothing to complain about. Both her parents were rich, and still happily together. However, Bella rarely saw them. She stretched out on her couch, she'd given all her maids the day off. She wasn't an overly materialistic girl, she just had the luxuries of a materialistic girl. Her blue eyes scanned the room absently, she was beyond bored.
Isabella was still young, she was only 16 years old. Just barely legal in the world of adult relationships. But mentally, she was older. Her nanny hadn't ever been super coddling, she just was there to make sure that she hadn't hurt herself. Isabella had basically raised herself, and because of that she seemed to be older. When asked how tall she was, she always answered 5"1, though in reality she was five feet even. She closed her eyes, "What shall I do today?"she sang to herself.
After peering outside, she quickly decided that going to the beach was her best bet. She suited up, grabbing her favourite aqua colored bikini and quickly ran a brush through her bright blonde hair, and then she was off. It was a beautiful day out, her face lulled towards the sun. She closed her eyes and plopped down onto the sand long enough to rub some sun screen on her pale skin. She didn't mind the few moments of silence, she quite enjoyed it. She sometimes felt like the popularity was suffocating, especially considering she was only popular because of her money.
"You're thinking to much" she grumbled, standing up quickly. She left her things there, moving towards the water. She brushed her hair from her eyes, her eyes searched the water, not really paying attention. She heard people laughing, families talking...she hated that she was all alone. She gasped as she felt someone knock into her, her petite little frame fell back into the sand. "Oof!" She looked up, kind of shocked to meet eyes as blue as hers. She took his hand, hers was miniscule in comparison. She pulled herself up, adjusting her swim suite easily. "Oh. Don't worry about it" she smiled up at him. He was attractive, and obviously older. But she'd play older if it meant she'd be able to at least talk to someone. "I'm completely fine" she giggled, biting her lip. "I'm Bella"

-----------------------------------I COULD ALWAYS COUNT ON THE FUTURES;( that things would look up ) ------------------------------- As the young woman before him rose to her feet, Jude was finally able to get a good look at her. He studied her, not in a creepy, stalker-ish kind of way, but in a way that was interested in curious, wanting to learn more about her. She was young, and tiny, almost frail, almost a full foot smaller than he, making him feel even worse for knocking her over so easily. But, acccidents happen, right? And she seemed fine, and handled the whole thing very pleasantly, so J.T. choose not to continue worrying about it. He was good in that sense; he had a reasonable, logical mind that kept him in line throughout the day. It was quite a blessing, especially when he was younger, for if he couldn't keep it together, his whole family probably would've fallen apart in an even worse way than it already had.
A small but warm and friendly smile broke across his face as she spoke, giving a small nod in acceptance. His worrisome eyes softened into that of gentility and curiosity. "I'm glad you're alright," Jude said quietly, his low voice smooth and dream-like. He wasn't always the best at approaching people on his own; then again, in this instance, it wasn't necessarily by choice. However, he knew how to play it cool, despite being a man of few words. Not that he really had much to worry about here, as this girl was obviously younger than he. It was obvious by her size and the sound of her voice, though exactly how much younger Jude couldn't pinpoint. Despite her childlike frame, she had a maturity about her that he found to be very interesting. Perhaps it would be fun to have someone new to talk to for a change.
He looked down at himself, taking some time to brush the sand off of his light blue jeans and navy blue, short-sleeved, V-neck T-shirt. It was an unusually casual outfit for Jude, as usually he was into something with a bit more flair, but, for a trip to the beach with his niece (who he had yet to find), it was quite perfect. His smile widened slightly as she introduced herself, and his eyes again fell to meet her own, "It's a pleasure to meet you, Bella," He said warmly, "I'm Jude." He held his gaze with hers for a moment, before turning again to look for Emmalyn. He knew she wouldn't have gone far, perhaps just out looking for shells or something like that. Yet, he didn't quite feel comfortable having her out of his sight. After all, his sister would murder him if he came home with the news that he lost her daughter on the beach somewhere.
Jude returned to face Bella again, tilting his head curiously to the side in thought. Perhaps she had seen his niece somewhere. He wasn't sure how long this young woman had been sitting there, but it was worth asking. "You didn't happen to see a little girl, with long, dark brown hair run by you, did you?" He asked, hoping that maybe she might have a better indication of where Emmalyn had run off to. Or if not, perhaps she would be willing to help him look for her. After all, who didn't like kids? And it might make it a little easier to make a new friend this evening.
